Nancy J.
Erickson, Principal
Nancy Erickson is co-founder and principal of New
Solutions, Inc.
For more than 20 years, Ms. Erickson has served as a key management
advisor to senior hospital management for numerous hospital and health
care systems in region. She has led a vast number of engagements,
including strategic and service line planning, medical staff
development planning and integration strategies, business development
and marketing plans, market research and strategy development for
health services and products as well as regulatory compliance projects
and community benefit planning.
In 1994, Dun & Bradstreet Health Care Information Inc. purchased
New Solutions, Inc. (NSI) and Ms. Erickson served as Vice-President for
Client and Consulting Services, responsible for customer service,
training and consulting services. In 1996, Dun & Bradstreet spun
off their health care division, and NSI's principals re-established the
company. In that transition, NSI obtained the rights to health care
decision support software, HCDA, which has been successfully marketed
throughout the region.
In 2002, Ms. Erickson co-founded a second company, Beacon Health
Informatics, LLC, www.beaconhealthinfo.com,
whose focus is health care
information technology and consulting for quality and risk management,
outcomes analysis and performance improvement. Beacon Health
Informatics supports clients is several States and is an approved Joint
Commission Core Measures vendor.
Ms. Erickson has presented papers to local and national organizations
on maternal/ infant and senior citizen health care, consumer health
issues, IRS 990 requirements for health care organizations and
community benefit planning. She has co-authored several studies on the
impacts of socio-economic factors on health status.
She holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from Drew University and a
master's degree from Rutgers University, where she specialized in
health planning, policy and management. She is listed in Who's
Who of American Women and is a member of the American Public Health
Association, the Society for Health Planning of the American Hospital
Association, the American Management Association and the Healthcare
Financial Management Association. She is Past President of the
Health Planning & Marketing Society of New Jersey.
Caron T. Todd, Ph.D., Principal
Caron
Todd is co-founder and principal of New Solutions, Inc. Dr. Todd has
primary responsibility for market research and computer applications to
which she brings over 20 years in the study of health care. Hospital
executives who seek her out to evaluate market changes and data
integration and coordination value her experience and analytic
abilities. Prior to formation of New Solutions, Dr. Todd provided
direction for the market/research computer services division of a
leading health care consulting firm.
Following the purchase of NSI by Dun & Bradstreet Healthcare
Information, Inc., Dr. Todd became responsible for operations and
software development. In 2002, Dr. Todd co-founded Beacon Health
Informatics LLC, whose focus is health care information technology and
consulting for quality management and improvement.
Dr. Todd also served as Director of Health Administration Studies, and
served on the Columbia University Faculty of Medicine. While at
Columbia, she was assigned to Harlem Hospital Center's Department of
Patient Care and Program Evaluation, where she assessed the health care
needs of the community; evaluated the programmatic quality and
effectiveness based upon specific outcome measures; and determined the
effectiveness of computerized medical records as evaluation and
management tools in medical research.
Dr. Todd holds a bachelor's degree from San Diego State College; a
master's degree from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. from Columbia
University, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Division of
Sociomedical Sciences. She has published articles in several health
care publications and taught courses on the use of computers
Patricia H. Virga, Ph.D., Vice President of Consulting
Services
As Vice President of Consulting Services, Pat serves as
project manager for a wide variety of hospital and community-based
clients. She brings a strong strategic and analytical background to
NSI's planning engagements and has extensive experience in strategic
and business planning, community needs assessment,
quality management and coalition building. Her
most recent expertise lies in cancer prevention activities and HIV/AIDS
service delivery. She continues to develop
innovative evaluation programs for community-based organizations.
Pat's involvement in health care planning and marketing began in 1981
when she received her Ph. D. from Rutgers University. Pat also holds
degrees from Syracuse University and University of Massachusetts. She
is a member of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market
Development of the American Hospital Association and Past-President of
the Health Care Planning and Marketing Society of New Jersey. She
serves on the Office of Cancer Control and Prevention's Governor's Work
Group on Evaluation and on the nationally recognized New Jersey
State Quality Management Cross Part Collaborative.
Lynn M. Schultz, BSN, MBA, Vice President of Client
Services
Lynn
is NSI's Vice President of Client Services and Marketing, bringing
expertise
in health care business planning, market research and medical staff
development to client engagements. She began her health care marketing
career over 20 years ago working with one of the first hospital-based
medical staff development programs in the country. Since that time, she
has supported many hospitals in enhancing physician relationships while
optimizing medical staff mix and locations. Lynn also has extensive
experience in survey research, focus group moderation and depth
interviewing.
Lynn received her bachelor of science in nursing from Duke University
and her master of business administration from University of Dayton.
She has presented papers on marketing applications in nurse recruitment
and retention.
Debra Levinson, FACHE, Senior Consultant
Debra
recently joined the NSI consulting staff, after 15 years with the Saint
Barnabas Health Care System, New Jersey's largest health care provider.
In that capacity, she developed and implemented a strategic planning
process for the System's nine hospitals. She influenced policy and
decision-making from the highest levels of the organization, supporting
the hospitals' Boards of Trustees as well as Executive and Operational
Councils. Debra brings significant expertise in business development,
regulatory planning and certificate of need development to NSI clients.
Debra received her master's degree in health administration from
Rutgers University and her bachelor's in marketing from New Jersey
Institute of Technology. She is a Fellow of the American College of
Health Care Executives and an active member of the Healthcare Planning
and Marketing Society of New Jersey.
